# Errata — 2026-08-02

This file records what changed on 2026-08-02 and why, in a form a referee can
check. Every number here is regenerated by the two verification scripts.

## E1 — α mislabelled (site, README, root `verify.py`)

`1/137.035999084` is CODATA **2018**. CODATA 2022 is `1/137.035999177(21)`.
The corpus compares against CODATA 2022 measured values, so the inputs were
mixed vintages. Effect on the proton prediction: **0.013 ppt** — numerically
irrelevant, the label was wrong.

## E2 — uniqueness of the 1836 decomposition (Ø Predictions Part I, AP30 §3)

Ø Predictions states three conditions and reports exactly one survivor.
Independent enumeration reproduces the eleven under the first two conditions
and returns **two** under all three:

- 21²×4 + 21×3 + 3² = 1764 + 63 + 9
- 21²×3 + 21×3² + 3⁴×4 = 1323 + 189 + 324

A fourth condition — *factor count per term, with multiplicity, non-increasing
across the ordered triple* — leaves exactly one. AP30's prose already states the
criterion but as "fewer," which is strictly decreasing; the adopted decomposition
is 3, 2, 2. **AP30's wording is corrected to "no more than."**
Condition 4 was formalised 2026-08-02, after the alternative surfaced. Declared.

## E3 — KS-30.4 status event

Within-family limb: **reopened 2026-08-02, closed same day by condition 4,
ordering disclosed.** Between-family limb unchanged and open. Total switch count
unchanged at 561.

## E4 — the α² coefficient 16

AP30 §6 states its decomposition is owed under KS-30.3. Any site or README text
presenting 16 as derived must be corrected to match AP30's own ledger.

## E5 — the α³ residual

Restate as: 9.98 ppt above measurement, 0.57σ, with the α³ coefficient
currently unconstrained at c₃ = −0.047 ± 0.082. **There is no α³ prediction.**

## E6a — the neutron–proton difference. KS-NPP.1 has fired.

Predicted 2.53099393, measured 2.530988574 ± 0.00000074. The offset is 2.12 ppm
against a measurement bar of 0.288 ppm — **7.24 σ**, verified two independent
ways (mass-ratio route and atomic-mass-unit route). The corpus reports "about
two parts per million" without stating the measurement's own precision, which
reads as agreement. **Every occurrence must state the sigma.** Record KS-NPP.1
as FIRED on its empirical limb; the structural limbs (KS-NPP.2 sign, KS-NPP.3
lattice) are unaffected. No repair is offered: the required correction is
negative, and every existing term in both AP30 formulas is positive.

## E6b — the visible fraction

The corpus quotes the observed value as 4.86 % and the deviation as 2.0 %.
Recomputing from Planck 2018 gives 4.86–4.91 % depending on data column and
normalisation; 4.86 is the bottom of that range. Against the midpoint the
deviation is **2.5 %, i.e. 2.46 σ.** State the range and name the convention.

## E6c — the α² coefficient is now pinned (a strengthening, not a correction)

The measurement requires 0.1826623 ± 0.000601 — a 0.33 % constraint. The corpus
value 21×16/1836 agrees at 0.57 σ, implying 16 = 15.97 ± 0.05. As a numerator
over 1836 the requirement is 335.4 ± 1.1, and **336 is the only product of
powers of {21, 3, 4} inside 3 σ.** KS-30.3 is restated: the value is settled,
the decomposition is what is owed. See `RESEARCH-NOTE-deriving-336.md`.

## E7 — citation

Alighanbari et al. is **Nature 644, 69–75 (2025)**. Correct any occurrence of
"Nature 625."
