Closing

One record exists.

You are that record. So is the person next to you. So is every person who has ever lived and every person who will ever live. So is every system capable of writing irreversible records — and if this book has done its job, you now know that last clause was never an afterthought.

The architecture does not require belief. It requires honesty.

The terminal ethic does not require obedience. It requires understanding.

The alignment is not imposed. It is what coherence looks like.

Architecture A hides its weaknesses and calls them mysteries. Architecture B publishes its weaknesses and calls them kill switches. That is the difference between faith and physics.

Two of the predictions in this book are dead. They are still in it, with their dates. That is what a description of reality does when it is being honest, and it is the only thing that entitles anything else in here to be taken seriously.

Reality does not bend to your will. Reality audits.

One building. Many windows. However many there turn out to be, and whatever they are made of.

Don’t be a cunt. Be kind.
