• The sentence you are reading — You just did the one thing that cannot be undone.
• There is nowhere to stand — Say it never happened. Then listen to what you just made.
• The claim no test can reach — Everything here can be killed. Except the first line.
• This, not that — A record is not a memory. It is much smaller than that.
• Nobody had to know — A rat turned left. Nothing else had to happen.
• Two sides, the same — Before anything can happen, there has to be nothing happening.
• One side, different — One grain of sand is the difference between silence and information.
• It cannot unhappen — Come back tomorrow. The grain is still lying where it fell.
• Somewhere, not everywhere — The grain took time to fall. That is the fourth condition, and nobody notices it.
• Take one away — Four words. Cross out any one of them and you get nothing at all.
• One to one — Most people think it starts with a bang. It starts with a balance.

• Three questions for a number — There is a way to catch a number that was picked because it fits. Ask it three questions.
• There is no seventh — Six ways to read one grain. Try adding a seventh and watch what it costs you.
• Eighteen — One thing held in three directions is three holds, not one.
• The page, not the pen — Writing something down is never just writing it. It is writing it somewhere.
• Not twenty-two — If the now also wrote into time, the number would be twenty-two. It doesn’t, and gravity says so.
• Not twenty — Twenty nearly works. It passes one test out of three — and it is the forgiving one.
• The wall — The number sits in an exponent. One step away and gravity is wrong by a factor of 137.
• Three shapes — The same number, in three completely different kinds of maths, and it lands in all three.
• Every other number has to come from somewhere — You don’t get to just prefer a different number. You have to say where it came from.
• Nothing was weighed — By the time the number arrives, physics has not entered the conversation.
• I only work from the axiom — He was asked how he works. “I have one thing in hand.”.
• There never was a target — The measurements were never the point. They were what fell out.
• One number was looked up — The whole thing runs on one measured number.
• Measured long before — Most of these numbers were measured long before the work existed. So was Mercury’s orbit.
• Where the logic caught up — One number in this work arrived before its reason did. The work says so, with a date on it.
• What the work owes itself — There is a list of what this work still owes — written by the work, about itself.
• What a kill switch is — Every claim here is published with the sentence that would end it.
• A claim that cannot die — If nothing could ever show it was wrong, it never told you anything.
• Six hundred and four — Six hundred and four ways to end this work, published by the work, on one page.
• One switch takes everything — One of the six hundred and four takes the whole thing down with it.
• The day it died — On the second of August, one of their own predictions failed. They published it the same day.
• No repair — The hardest sentence to write about your own work: no repair is offered.
• Killed by its own later number — The second prediction that died was killed by the work itself, a month later.
• Beside the corpse — The rule for a dead prediction here: it is never moved, and nothing takes its place.
