Erratum — the direction line in the dark-clock registration (2026-10-29)

Date: 2026-10-29 Author: G · Studio G · the420code.org Applies to: 2026-08-02-dark-clock-KS42.6.md (frozen, never edited); AP54 §9 and its registry line, which repeat the frozen wording Paper of record: AP42 The Clock, §4 and KS-42.2, unchanged Status: frozen for commit. The commit hash is the timestamp.

The registration of 2026-08-02 stands as written. It is not edited. This file stands beside it, in the house's way: corrections supersede, dated, in the open.

1. What is wrong

The frozen file registers the direction as:

Ω_DM / Ω_b increases with cosmic time.

and its second kill condition reads:

KILL — the wrong sign. Any credible determination that Ω_DM/Ω_b was higher in the early universe than today kills it outright.

The arrow is backwards. The paper the file names as its scope says the opposite.

AP42 §4 gives the dark-sector composition at every epoch. The dark-matter share runs from most of the budget at z ≈ 5 to about a quarter now. The visible share is one channel in twenty-one at every epoch. So dark matter against visible matter falls as time runs forward. It was higher early.

AP42 §4.1, in the paper's words: "dark matter dominated early (most content was still in process), dark energy dominates late (most content has completed processing)." AP42 §4.2: "The defragmentation model predicts more dark matter at high redshift than ΛCDM." KS-42.2 tests exactly that curve, with DE/DM at z ≈ 2 as its handle.

As frozen, the second kill condition would fire on the paper's own prediction. The clock would die for being right.

2. Why the arrow reversed at the freeze

The frozen file's §2 reasons from production: dark matter "is being produced by a late-time process rather than inherited from the early universe", so the ratio was taken to grow. That forgets what the ratio is measured against. The visible share is a fixed count, one in twenty-one, of the same whole. The whole grows as the leak compounds. Dark matter is the part of the dark twenty still in process. Early, nearly all of it was in process. Now most of it has finished and sits in the reservoir. The reservoir grows on a growing whole, which is what reads as the expansion speeding up. The share still in process falls. That is the compound-interest picture, and it is the one AP42 §3 and §4 compute.

Ruled 2026-10-29: the visible share is a fixed share of what is, not a fixed amount of what was. With that, the paper's arrow is the only arrow.

3. What this erratum does

  1. The direction, corrected. Ω_DM/Ω_b falls with cosmic time. It was higher in the early universe than today. This is AP42 §4, unchanged.
  2. The second kill condition, reversed. Any credible determination that Ω_DM/Ω_b was lower in the early universe than today kills the clock reading outright.
  3. The first kill condition stands. No evolution at z ≳ 4, at 3σ with systematics under control, kills it. That condition never carried a direction and does not move.
  4. Kill conditions three to five stand. The particle, the ratio itself, and no curve-fitting later: unchanged.
  5. The curve stays unregistered. The epoch table in AP42 §4 is the constant-feeding approximation. The formation-history convolution is still owed under D48, as the frozen file says. This erratum registers a sign, not a curve. No measurement has been compared with either.
  6. AP54 §9 and its registry line repeat the frozen wording, "the dark-matter share rising against the baryons with time". A dated note goes beside AP54 at its next republish. The paper is not edited.

4. Why this is not a change of prediction after the fact

No high-redshift determination of Ω_DM/Ω_b has been read against this switch. The paper the registration names as its scope carries the direction in its central section and in its own kill switch KS-42.2; its Orientation records the epoch table as preserved verbatim from the first version. This erratum corrects the freeze to the paper. It does not correct the paper to the data. The frozen file's own §3, condition five, forbids a curve produced after the data; a sign restored from the paper, before any data, is not that.

The frozen file stays as frozen. This erratum is dated beside it.
