The Conjugacy of c and G

Planck units as evidence (every Planck unit contains both c and G).

Every Planck unit whispers the same secret.

You have never noticed because the textbooks treat it as a dimensional coincidence.

Look closer.

It is not a coincidence. It is a fingerprint.

4.1 — Planck units as evidence

Every Planck unit contains both c and G. Never one alone:

lₚ = √(ℏG / c³) tₚ = √(ℏG / c⁵) mₚ = √(ℏc / G)

Conventionally treated as dimensional bookkeeping.

AP03 proposes a structural interpretation: c and G always appear together in Planck units because they are not independent.

They are conjugate outputs of the same break.

The Planck scale is the regime where the two modes are barely distinguishable — the scale of the break itself.

4.2 — What is derived and what is forced

In section 7, the minimal pre-geometric action with ℤ₂ symmetry is constructed.

In the broken phase, perturbations propagate with speed:

c² = β / α (4.1)

where α and β here are pre-geometric substrate parameters (temporal and spatial stiffness) — not to be confused with the electromagnetic fine-structure constant α that appears later in this section, which AP06 identifies numerically with the breaking amplitude ε. Context will distinguish them; the substrate parameters appear only inside the action.

A genuine derivation. c emerges as a property of the broken vacuum, not as an input.

Structurally identical to the emergence of the speed of sound in condensed matter.

Theorem E-G — Gravitational Conjugacy. The emergent gravitational coupling G is determined by ε. Originally published as a conjecture; structurally forced by AP20’s proof that Axiom B admits exactly one free parameter. The form of G’s dependence on ε, derived in section 7 from the structural condensate density:

G = κ / (εΛ²) (4.2)

Note: the original AP03 ansatz had c/G ∝ ε², corrected to c/G ∝ ε in the subsequent Sakharov-route derivation. With G ∝ 1/ε at fixed Λ, the Planck mass scales as mₚ ∝ √ε. This is a substrate-level scaling (κ, Λ free); the parameter-free value of G is derived in AP28 as G = α_em²¹(1 + 1/π)ℏc/m_e² (canonical for the value), and the two are reconciled at different architectural levels (see the note on status).

The dimensionless statement of the conjugacy. c and G have different dimensions — c is a velocity, G is a coupling. Their ratio c/G is unit-dependent (≈ 4.5 × 10¹⁸ ≈ 10¹⁹ in SI units; trivially 1/G in natural units c = 1). The unit-independent statement uses the gravitational fine-structure constant at a fixed reference mass:

α_G(m) = Gm² / (ℏc) (4.3)

With G = κ/(εΛ²) and the AP06 identification of ε with the electromagnetic fine-structure constant α, the product of the two dimensionless couplings is:

α · α_G(m) = κ m² / (Λ² ℏ c) (4.4)

independent of ε (the ε in the numerator from α cancels the 1/ε from G at fixed Λ). This is the dimensionless conjugacy: at any fixed reference mass and cutoff, the product of the electromagnetic and gravitational fine-structure constants is fixed by κ, m, and Λ alone — none of which carry ε-dependence.

The hierarchy, by contrast, scales with ε:

α / α_G(m) ∝ α² ∝ ε² (4.5)

and captures the observed hierarchy: at the electron mass, α/α_G(e) ≈ 10⁴³.

The break controls both. Status: theorem under AP20’s forcing proof on Axiom B; the explicit form derived in section 7 from the structural condensate density together with the standard induced-gravity calculation. Tested by KS-R.1 (the conjugacy itself: α · α_G independent of ε) and KS-R.6 (the hierarchy: α/α_G ∝ ε²).

You have just watched a speed limit emerge from nothing.

Not postulated. Not measured. Computed — from the stiffness of the substrate that the break left behind.

The mathematics does not care whether you find this beautiful. It computes.

4.3 — The event horizon as the marginal surface

The Schwarzschild radius of a mass M is:

rₛ = 2GM / c² (4.6)

At that radius, the escape velocity equals c.

The propagation mode (Mode 1) can no longer outrun the resistance mode (Mode 0). The break becomes locally marginal.

Inside the horizon, Mode 0 dominates. Outside, Mode 1 has room to run.

Structural interpretation: the event horizon is the surface where the local value of the symmetry-breaking parameter reaches zero.

The boundary between the broken phase (exterior) and the restored phase (interior).

A black hole is a local restoration of the pre-break symmetry.

4.4 — Hawking radiation as proof of global asymmetry

If the interior of a black hole represents local symmetry restoration, then Hawking radiation has a structural interpretation.

The global asymmetry (ε > 0 everywhere in the broken phase) prevents the local restoration from being complete. The break leaks through the horizon.

The global condition ε > 0 is non-negotiable within a universe that exists because ε ≠ 0.

A structural reason why black holes must evaporate: a permanently stable local restoration of symmetry within a globally broken phase is a contradiction.

The broken phase is the universe.

The universe does not permit pockets of perfect symmetry to persist indefinitely within itself.

Conjecture E-Hawking. Hawking radiation is the necessary consequence of imposing a global ε > 0 condition on a locally ε → 0 region. Status: structurally motivated. Depends on E-Identity, which now inherits from E-G theorem status. Tested via KS-R.4 (horizon inequivalence) — if the cosmological origin and the black-hole horizon are structurally distinct, the structural account of Hawking radiation falls with it.

You have watched a black hole try to undo the break.

And you have watched the universe refuse.

The radiation is the refusal.

The mathematics does not judge. It leaks.

4.5 — The Planck mass as the scale of the break

From G = κ/(εΛ²) and the definition mₚ = √(ℏc/G):

mₚ ∝ √ε (4.7)

The Planck mass scales as √ε.

The mass scale at which gravitational and quantum effects are comparable — which is precisely where the two sectors become marginally distinguishable. Tested by KS-R.5.

4.6 — The hierarchy as ε measured

From equation 4.5: α/α_G(m) ∝ ε² at fixed reference mass m and fixed cutoff Λ. At the electron mass, α/α_G(e) ≈ 10⁴³ — read by AP03 as the empirical face of ε² ≈ (1/137)² ≈ 5.3 × 10⁻⁵, dressed by the (Λ/m_e)² factor pinned via AP24.

You have wondered why gravity is so absurdly weak compared to electromagnetism.

Forty-three orders of magnitude weaker.

That number is ε, measured.
