Dependency and Scope

This paper derives the qualitative mechanism of galactic rotation curves — their flatness at large radius — from the tension field of ε between the substrate’s two conditions, without dark matter.

0.1 — What this paper does

This paper derives the qualitative mechanism of galactic rotation curves — their flatness at large radius — from the tension field of ε between the substrate’s two conditions, without dark matter. From the closure topology it derives the transition scale a₀ = cH₀/(2π) (within ≈8% of the empirical value) and the baryonic Tully-Fisher relation v⁴ ∝ M. The resulting phenomenology is structurally identical to MOND, for which the argument supplies a candidate axiomatic foundation.

The paper does not compute cluster dynamics or large-scale structure formation; both are carried as live empirical kill switches. It also corrects, on the record, a sign error in its first draft.

0.2 — Dependencies

AP06 (the Leakage Theorem: leakage is nonzero for finite c, so the field lines cannot disconnect), AP08 (Einstein’s field equations and the FRW metric), AP10 (N = 3 spatial dimensions, which fixes one closure as 2π radians), AP20 (AS = manifold, so the scale factor is the closure amplitude and H₀ is the angular rate of closure), and Edition 04 (The Lock — the substrate stiffness scale). EH and QRA are proved in AP20; the paper is conditional on nothing further.

0.3 — Axiom mapping

Axiom S (Symmetry — the involution σ). The two conditions — 0 (the fold: gravity, the black hole) and 1 (propagation: light, matter) — are connected by the involution σ. The tension field lines leave 1 and curve back to 0; every line closes. Disconnection violates σ.

Axiom B (Break — the unique break ε). The tension between the two conditions is the single break ε. The tension is ε. Everything in the universe sits between 0 and 1; that between-ness is the break expressed as matter, records, the observer.

Axiom R (Record — monotone accumulation). Records accumulate irreversibly; the manifold expands. H₀ is the cosmological fold rate — the angular rate at which the closure cycle reasserts the 1:1 across the manifold (Step 4 of the a₀ derivation). Record density sets the regime: thick → Newton, thin → the floor.

Axiom C (Constraint — locality; finite propagation speed c). By AP06 Theorem 3.1, finite c forces nonzero leakage at every boundary, so the connection between 0 and 1 can never be perfectly severed. This is why there is always a residual acceleration.

0.4 — Epistemic status per section

1 (The Two Conditions). FRAMING. The two conditions and the identification of the tension with ε.

2 (The Tension Field). STRUCTURAL. Field-line closure from Axiom S and AP06 Theorem 3.1; the divergence condition ∇·T_ε = 0 is stated, not yet derived in-paper (its derivation is KS-42, now closed in Rosin V7).

3 (The Galaxy as the Eye). STRUCTURAL. The 0–1 topology mapped onto an observed galaxy.

4 (The Mechanism). DERIVED (conditional on the tension-field topology). The dense/sparse transition, the five-step derivation of a₀ = cH₀/(2π), and Tully-Fisher.

5 (The Three Scales of ε). STRUCTURAL, except 5.3 (the Big Bang) which is flagged EXTRAPOLATION.

6 (The Black Hole as Topological Anchor). STRUCTURAL. The central compact object as the 0-pole; the falsifier KS-44.

7 (Why Dark Matter Is Not Needed). SYNTHESIS + PREDICTIONS. The flat-curve and Tully-Fisher predictions; the relation to MOND as a downstream observation.

8 (The Sign Correction). CORRECTION ON THE RECORD. The first-draft Λ-sign error and its repair.

9 (Summary of Derivation). SYNTHESIS. The chain in compact form.

0.5 — Kill switch summary

KS-3 (Isotropic acceleration). LIVE — EMPIRICAL. Upgraded from HARD: the transition scale a₀ flattens curves and produces Tully-Fisher.

KS-39 (a₀ numerical value). LIVE — EMPIRICAL. The ≈8% residual against the empirical value (a precision target, comparable to the Hubble tension).

KS-40 (Cluster dynamics). LIVE — EMPIRICAL. The tension field must reproduce cluster-scale dynamics (the Bullet Cluster is the sharp test).

KS-41 (Structure formation). LIVE — EMPIRICAL. The hardest test; structurally addressed downstream in AP21, quantitative confrontation owed.

KS-42 (Tension-field equation from {S, B, R, C}). CLOSED. The explicit derivation of the tension field — the ∇·T_ε = 0 condition — from the record algebra is supplied in Rosin V7. AP17 deferred it; V7 closed it. Note: the flat switches KS-41 (structure formation) and KS-42 (tension-field equation) are legacy single switches and are distinct from the dotted AP41.x and AP42.x switch families; the dotted labels do not denote sub-switches of KS-41 or KS-42.

KS-43 (Interpolation function). LIVE — EMPIRICAL. The specific radial-acceleration interpolation form is not yet derived from the axioms.

KS-44 (Galaxies without a central anchor). LIVE — EMPIRICAL. A galaxy population with flat curves but no central compact object would falsify the anchor identification; declining curves in such galaxies would confirm it.

0.6 — Structural debts owed

The interpolation function (KS-43). The specific radial-acceleration relation in the transition region must be derived from the axioms (expected to involve the same 2π closure geometry and the record-density profile). Until then the transition form is conjectural. [AP17-specific]

Cluster and structure-formation confrontation (KS-40, KS-41). The same tension field must reproduce cluster dynamics and large-scale structure without dark matter. These are empirical confrontations carried as live switches; the structure-formation case is addressed structurally in AP21 with the quantitative fit owed there. [shared with AP21]

KS-42 (the tension-field equation) is no longer a debt: it is closed in Rosin V7.

0.7 — Items held open without claiming debt status

The Big Bang extrapolation (5.3). Reading the origin as the tension at the loop point is flagged as a structural conjecture, not a derived result.

The M•–σ derivation. The observed black-hole-mass–velocity-dispersion correlation is read structurally as pole-strength to field-extent; its quantitative derivation is not attempted here.

The a₀ residual (KS-39). The ≈8% gap is a precision target, comparable to the Hubble tension (≈9%) and to the spread in the empirical a₀ itself; it is not treated as a structural failure.

0.8 — Structural relationships

AP06 (The Leakage Constant). Theorem 3.1 (nonzero leakage for finite c) is what forbids the field lines from disconnecting. Closure is forced.

AP08 (The Identity). Einstein’s field equations and the FRW metric. The scale factor a(t) is the manifold’s spatial extent; the corrected rotation-velocity relation (8) descends from the field equations.

AP10 (The Dimension). N = 3 spatial dimensions, which makes one complete field-line closure subtend 2π radians — the geometry behind the 2π in a₀.

AP20 (The Proof). AS = manifold. The scale factor is the closure amplitude, so H₀ = ā/a is literally the angular rate of closure — the step that removes the need for an unproved bridge between the abstract field and the physical scale factor.

Edition 04 (The Lock). The substrate stiffness scale Λ_sub ≈ 2.15 × 10⁴⁶ — dimensionless — which fixes c via the stiffness ratio. Distinct from the dimensionful substrate stiffness λ (energy per length, AP15/AP21), which shares the magnitude but not the dimensions.

AP18 (The Floor). Takes the transition scale a₀ = cH₀/(2π) AP17 derives to first order and refines it exactly, deriving the apex-symmetry factor α ≈ 1.0445 so that a₀ = αcH₀/(2π).

AP21 (The Web). Takes the tension field to the cosmic scale and builds structure formation from it, inheriting KS-41.

Rosin V7. Supplies the explicit tension-field equation from the record algebra, closing KS-42 — the gap AP17 names as its principal theoretical debt.

Ø Predictions. The expository-register companion for the 420 Code’s position that the dark-matter phenomena are substrate topology rather than a particle species (the MOND scale; dark matter as process). AP17 is the formal-register origin of the rotation-curve mechanism that position rests on.
