Keeping in Place

What gravity is, in the picture. And why it is perceived as weak.

Claim. Gravity is not a force on the grains. It is the structural property that keeps the grains in place relative to the record history. As a whole, it keeps all the record histories in place relative to one another. Coupling holds the record. Gravity keeps the whole record history in place. That is the difference. It is the difference between one channel and twenty-one. Under AP50’s formula it is why gravity is perceived as weak and coupling as strong.

Intuition. The world is not a collection of objects. It is a process of record-keeping. Coupling writes and holds one record. Gravity keeps the whole pile from sliding. One is local and strong. The other is over everything and seems weak. It is not weak. It depends on all twenty-one channels at once — a conjunction, AP50 §5 — and what depends on twenty-one passages at α each is worth α twenty-one times over. “Spread over everything” means conditional on everything. It does not mean divided among it.

Ruling (the author). “The neck is the entry point of the record — where the grains land. Gravity is not a force on the grains. Theorem — the two registers. AP50 §5 has gravity in two roles. The G-face is one reading of a landed grain. The neck is what all twenty-one gates compound to. The author’s describing sets the two roles beside coupling’s one job. Holding is coupling’s: one channel, at α, the record held. Keeping in place is gravity’s: all twenty-one, the record history held against every other record history, at the neck, now. So the same grain is held strongly, by one completed exchange, and kept in place by twenty-one compounded. Within AP50’s formula the contrast between the two is twenty powers of α, with AP50’s two correction factors retained (AP50 §12): gravity compounds twenty-one gates, coupling is one, and the difference is twenty. That is a conditional consequence of AP50’s product. It is not an independent explanation of a small number. The perception of weakness is the compounding. Nothing is weak.

Coupling holds the record. Gravity holds the record history. That is the whole difference. Twenty-one gates against one, and the difference is twenty.
