Closing

α is the moment of the cut. Read from the neck it is one number: how much of one rope one now lets through, the same at every window, the windows and the neck differing by the one grain that keeps the break open. Read from the hold it is the same number: how tightly one grain is held by the next. Over the whole grain it is that number twenty-one times over, and that is gravity.

Its value is measured. Twelve roads to deriving it were walked and every one closes, for reasons this paper names one by one — several of them because the condition they offer is satisfied at any coupling and so selects none. Two are open and neither is this paper’s: the running, with the spectrum as its price, and the ripple, open as a mechanism awaiting a blind test and closed as a road already walked, its price attempted and not paid. What would close D1 is a second scale the axioms have not supplied, and the paper says what it would have to be and what it would have to not be.

The axiom is 1:1 + 1×ε. The cut is α. The hold is α twenty-one times. The value is the one measured input, and now you know why.
