The Six Readings, by Operation

AP24 said the six faces are one object read six ways. It never said what fixes the reading. The hourglass does.

Claim. Which of the six readings applies is fixed by what the grain is doing. Four are readings of the landed grain: mₑ, c, G, the material face. One is the reading of the holding: α, the coupler and the reader. One is the record of the hold: time. The criterion is operational. The corpus already holds both instances: the proton, landed (AP30), and its holders (AP49). And the sorting says why exactly one of the six is dimensionless. Dimension is the extent a thing is held in. The holding has none. Its reading is a pure number.

Intuition. A landed grain sits on the pile. You can point at it. You weigh it. You see how its signal moves. You see what pins it there. You see that it does not collapse. The act of holding is not a thing on the pile. It is what a configuration does to keep a grain there. It is done in coupling. And the count of grains that have passed the neck is neither the grain nor the act. It is the record’s own tally of itself.

Givens. AP24 §2 (the six faces; KS-37). The author’s sorting of 8 September. AP30 (the proton’s resistance as mass). AP49 (the holders; r = 16α/1836 at the substrate’s rate).

Ruling — the sorting (the author). “Held as c, G, mₑ and the material face, in three dimensions, over time — and alpha is the coupler and the reader.” “Reading is a coupling event, writing is a coupling event, holding is a coupling event.” “Time is the record of the hold and the record history’s measuring unit.” “The actualised record is read based on the six reading constraints.”

Theorem — the criterion does not consult the reading. Landed: a coupled record held over three dimensions and time. One that has landed and can be pointed at. The proton is landed. Its resistance is counted as mass above the minimal break. The holding: the act. The one doing the pointing. The proton’s holders are holdings. Their share is in α: the sixteen expressions at the substrate’s rate. The same configuration, read landed, is mass. Read as held, it is a chain in α. The assignment consulted what was being done. It did not consult what the reading returned.

Two fours, kept apart. The landed four — c, G, mₑ, the material face — are faces of the grain. The sixteen’s four — S, B, R, C — are conditions on the record (AP49 §3). AP10 §0.3 maps the conditions to the manifold’s faces. AP28’s Proposition 1 reads the faces of the grain to the axioms. It finds G and t both reading R. It finds none of the landed four reading S. That tension is AP28’s and AP24’s. It is held open (§0.7). Nothing here needs the two fours to be one four.

Ruling — α is the now (the author, 9 September). “Phase coupling capacity is awareness — then it is alpha — then awareness becomes the pupil that can’t see the eye itself. Awareness in the AS is the now. We all share the now.” And: “it explains why alpha is dimensionless — it is the now that never holds — but it is the coupling capacity itself.”

Theorem — why exactly one of the six is dimensionless. Of AP24’s six faces, one is a pure number. Five carry units. α alone is dimensionless. AP06 calls it Notebook IV’s one measured dimensionless input. mₑ, c, G, the material face — AP24 §5, Face 5: the substrate’s stiffnesses, temporal and spatial, whose ratio is c²; a reading of the landed, carrying the landed’s units — and t all carry the units of length, time and mass, in any system that keeps those three apart. The sorting says why. It says it three ways. First: dimension is the extent a thing is held in — room and time. The four readings of the landed carry units because the landed is held through three dimensions over time. Time itself is the record’s unit of relative measurement. The holding is the act at the now. The now never holds. It is from where the hold is read (ruled 7 September). So its reading has nothing to be held in. It has no unit to carry. Second: in Face 3’s own formula the held quantities cancel. The electron’s charge squared over the quantum of action times the click. What is left is the count of one completed exchange. The held readings measure the exchange against each other. The holding is their ratio. Third: the now has no duration. It is the click, not a length of clicks. The one length at the neck — the grain’s radius, §2 — enters a reading taken at the now only as a ratio of like to like, one grain over its own disc. So no reading taken at the now carries a unit. One reading of six is dimensionless. It is exactly the one the sorting assigns to the holding. The sorting was ruled on 8 September on other grounds. That is the sorting met by a fact it was not written for.

Grade. The sorting: Ruled, in the author’s words. The instance: the corpus’s own. The dimensionless reading: the dimensionlessness itself is fixed by the defining ratio; the sorting says which face it belongs to and why. A check the sorting passes.

KS-NECK.2 — Reading by operation. Fires if a reading is shown to apply to an operation not its own. A landed grain read in α. An act of holding read as mass. Connections. The rule turns AP44’s selection into a reading (§6). It bounds the readings of one grain (§8). The eighteen are the six faces of a held grain (§4). The sorting says which operation each face reads.

Ask what the grain is doing. The constant tells you which face it is showing. Ask which one has no unit. It tells you which face is the now.
