Artist’s Note

This is Artist’s Proof 41 of The 420 Code, a chapter of Notebook VI — Cosmology. It reads the dark sector — the 95% of the universe that does not radiate — not as missing matter but as the unbroken mirror. The 420 Code holds two numbers: α = 1/137.036, the coupling strength (how strong the break is, AP06), and 1/21, the channel partition (where the actualised energy lands, AP10/AP28). The arena has twenty-one geometric channels. Electromagnetism opens one — the splinter, the +1×ε, the 4.76% we can see. The other twenty are the symmetric 10:10: they gravitate but do not radiate, because only asymmetry radiates. That is the dark sector. The total dark fraction (20/21 ≈ 95.24%) is a structural count; the internal split between dark matter and dark energy is derived in AP42 (The Clock).

From the scale-invariance of the axiom the paper draws the holographic splinter: any fragment large enough to contain one break reproduces the full architecture, which is why the visible universe looks self-consistent from inside. It identifies stellar fusion as the ongoing break — the Big Bang in the present tense — and traces the seven-stage loop from break to energy to records to accumulation to drift to the door (the black hole, AP04) and back. It argues, structurally, why α cannot be derived from within the splinter: you cannot read the address from inside the room. And it grounds the terminal ethic in the same mechanism — the capacity to couple irrationally, to choose, is the capacity that permits both kindness and cruelty.

What is structural here is the identification: the visible 5% as a channel count, the dark sector as unbroken symmetry, the holographic self-similarity, fusion as instantiation. What is conjectural is the loop’s closure through the black-hole door (Stage 6), which inherits from AP04 and carries its kill switch. Nothing is imported; every claim descends from {S, B, R, C} or from a prior Artist’s Proof.

Orientation

Where this paper fits in the body of work

AP41 is a chapter of Notebook VI (Cosmology), the dark-sector and loop chapter. It builds on AP06 (α as the coupling), AP10 and AP28 (the twenty-one channels and three dimensions), AP24 (the six faces of ε), AP29 (awareness as the interior of record-writing), and AP30 (mass as geometric resistance). Its loop-closure step (Stage 6) is AP04 (The Loop Hypothesis); its internal dark-sector split is derived in AP42 (The Clock).

How to read this paper

Two voices. The structural identifications — the two numbers, the unbroken mirror, the holographic cut, fusion as the break — carry the argument. The closing sections turn to the consequences: why α is unreadable from inside, why complete knowledge is structurally impossible, and how truth becomes frame-dependent (the 6 and the 9 in the sand). The Stage 6 loop-closure and the α-underivability argument are flagged where they are conjectural or structural rather than derived.

The kill switches

KS-41.1 — Visible fraction

Claim. The visible fraction of the total energy density is 1/21 ≈ 4.76% — one electromagnetic channel out of twenty-one.

Test. The observed visible fraction (≈4.86%; Planck 2018, see AP42 §3.4) must match 1/21. A measured visible fraction inconsistent with 1/21 (beyond the channel-to-density mapping in KS-41.5) falsifies the count.

KS-41.2 — Fusion as instantiation

Claim. Proton–proton fusion instantiates 1:1 + 1×ε: the mass deficit is ε expressed as energy.

Test. Mass–energy equivalence (E = mc²) in the fusion mass deficit — effectively closed by a century of nuclear physics; listed for completeness.

KS-41.3 — Loop topology

Claim. The loop closes: the black-hole interior is a new expanding geometry (the door, Stage 6).

Test. Inherits KS-L0.1 (AP04). The identification of the interior with a new geometry is required for closure.

KS-41.4 — α underivability

Claim. α cannot be derived from within the splinter; the within-the-system underivability is structural.

Test. Exhibit a self-referential derivation of α from inside the broken system that circumvents the within-the-splinter argument.

KS-41.5 — Channel-to-density mapping

Claim. The twenty-one channels map linearly to the energy partition: one channel = 1/21 of the budget.

Test. If channels contribute unequally to the energy budget — a nonlinear channel-to-density mapping — the predicted fraction changes.

KS-41.6 — Dark matter as un-actualised possibility

Claim. Dark matter is the unbroken symmetric channels, not a particle species.

Test. If dark-matter particles are discovered (LHC, direct detection, astrophysical signatures) at the right abundance, the identification fails.

KS-41.7 — Present-tense Big Bang

Claim. Fusion is the ongoing break; the Big Bang is present tense, not a single past event.

Test. Show that stellar fusion is not structurally the same process as the originating break.

KS-41.8 — Holographic splinter

Claim. The splinter reproduces the full architecture because the axiom is scale-invariant (the self-similarity property).

Test. Show that the axiom carries a preferred scale, or that a fragment containing one break fails to reproduce the architecture. (This is the self-similarity, not the Bekenstein–Hawking area-entropy bound.)

KS-41.9 — Frame-dependence from the break

Claim. Truth is frame-dependent because the break creates frames; no view from nowhere is constructible from within.

Test. Construct a frame-independent observation from within the broken system — a view from nowhere from inside the splinter.

The debts

D44 (Quantitative dark-sector partition). The mapping from twenty-one channels to the precise dark-energy/dark-matter/visible split (68/27/5) is structural but not derived here. The total (20/21) is structural; the internal split is owed. ADDRESSED in AP42 (The Clock): τ = (6/21) × t_H derives the two dark fractions to within 1.3% of Planck and the visible to ≈2% (dark-matter error 1.2%).

D45 (Fusion reactor geometry). If the axiom operates spherically, the optimal fusion geometry may be convergent rather than toroidal. Suggestive; the engineering derivation is out of scope. Open.

D46 (Cross-cycle record persistence). Records persist (Axiom R) but are inaccessible across the door (section 8). The two statements must be reconciled formally; sketched, not proved. Open.

Dependencies. AP03 (c), AP06 (α), AP10 (three dimensions), AP28 (the twenty-one-channel count; gravity holds all twenty-one — the hierarchy as a count), AP24 (the six faces), AP29 (awareness), AP30 (mass as resistance). The loop-closure step depends on AP04; the internal split is derived in AP42.
